We understand that not every great project fits the traditional lending mould, that’s why we created a new way of working to provide financial support to the ones that deserve a different approach.
A Message from Our Directors Manish Gambhir & John Drinkwater
At Phoenix Money, our mission has always been to unlock potential for our clients, our partners, and the projects we believe in. Over time, we recognised a gap in the market, strong opportunities often stalled, not because of lack of vision or viability, but because conventional funding couldn’t adapt fast enough.
Our Special Opportunities Vehicle was created to bridge that gap. This initiative empowers us to move beyond traditional lending, offering flexible, creative capital solutions that bring complex or high-value opportunities to life. Whether through joint ventures, equity participation, or mezzanine finance, our Special Opportunities Vehicle allows us to structure funding in a way that truly aligns with the unique needs of each project.
It’s about more than finance it’s about partnership. Our Special Opportunity Vehicle enables us to act swiftly, strategically, and decisively when the right opportunity presents itself, delivering exceptional outcomes for both our clients and our investors.
Our leadership team reflects the depth of expertise driving this innovation.
Manish Gambhir, Managing Director, has spent over a decade in property development and finance, building Phoenix Money from the ground up in 2020 to address exactly these kinds of challenges. His vision and strategic focus ensure that every opportunity we take on is underpinned by sound structure, foresight, and commercial integrity.
John Drinkwater, Chairman, brings extensive financial expertise from over 11 years at Goldman Sachs, where he led fixed income teams and specialised in structured products such as global mortgage securitisations. Having later co-founded a private equity firm and scaled a bridging and development finance business to significant success, John’s insight and relationships play a pivotal role in driving the special opportunities reach and performance.
Together, we see the Special Opportunities Vehicle as the next evolution of Phoenix Money’s journey a service designed to unlock exceptional projects, deliver sustainable growth, and create value for all stakeholders.
We don’t just fund projects; we partner to make them happen.
We are more than just lending.
Manish Gambhir, Managing Director & John Drinkwater, Chairman
Special Opportunities
At Phoenix Money, we understand that not every deal fits neatly into a traditional lending model. That’s why we created our Special Opportunities vehicle, designed to support clients with more complex, bespoke funding requirements.
Whether it’s structuring joint ventures, providing equity partnerships, or delivering mezzanine solutions, we have the flexibility, expertise, and appetite to make unique transactions happen.
Joint Ventures
We partner with clients and investors to unlock opportunities that require shared vision and resources. Our joint venture structures are tailored to align interests, balance risk, and maximise returns, helping ambitious projects come to life.
Equity Funding
For projects that need more than standard debt finance, we provide equity funding to help bridge the gap. By taking a stake alongside you, we offer both capital and commitment, giving you the financial strength to move forward with confidence.
Mezzanine Lending
When a straightforward loan isn’t enough, mezzanine finance can provide the ideal balance between debt and equity. Our flexible mezzanine solutions are designed to give projects the leverage they need while maintaining long-term stability.
We’re building something exciting.
Our Special Opportunities Vehicle is taking shape, and soon we’ll share real examples of how it’s helping ambitious projects succeed.
Have an opportunity that deserves a closer look?
We’re always open to speaking with developers, investors, and partners who share our drive to do things differently.
Tell us about your project and together, we can explore how the Special Opportunities Vehicle could help bring it to life.
